A Word from the Management of the Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM
|
Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM is very new to the fishing industry. It is
understandable that folks are going to think of it as a bobber.
Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM is not a bobber. The only thing it has in common with a bobber
is that it floats. The main function of Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM is that it’s a line
dispensing float that allows you to fish comfortably at the depth you
desire. The convenience of it is you may change depths at any time you
wish just by setting three dials without cutting your line and retying it.
A bobber is a very simple devise that is spring loaded and floats.
Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM is innovative technology that was created by a Registered
Professional Engineer and was two years in the design phase.
One of the major benefits that you should get is less snags. The float can
be set to any depth form 0.1 foot to 99.9 feet. This allows you to set you
depth so your bait is just above the structure that attracts the fish.
Another reason that the float avoids snags is that when you pull on the
line, the bait moves vertically over the structure rather than across
it. I have found that I can fish right in down trees and my bait jumps
over branches that would normally snag the bait. Take a look at the
dancing worm video to see what the bait does when the bait is retrieved.
As far is as the price is concerned, this is a precision engineered and
precision machined device. Each part is machined using a computerized
numerical control router. To get the quality and precision, it cost more
to manufacture the float. The dials are fully synchronized to avoid
jamming and provide smooth operation. I believe you will find that the
device is worthy of its price.

Frequently Asked Questions!!
- How big is the product?
- 3.5" Height; 2" Width; 1.2" Thickness.
- How heavy is the product?
- The unit is made of expanded PVC plastic. It is lighter than water with a specific gravity of 0.07. It weights only 1.4 oz.
- How much does it cost?
- Please go to our pricing and ordering information page to find out the cost and how to order.
- What pound test can you use with it?
- Quality of line is most important. Many manufacturers make line designated as "Very Limp". Using good quality line should allow 20 pound test line. Of course the smallest line that fits your fishing situation is best.
- Does it fray line?
- The line moves freely through the line guides. The plastic used is smooth and will not fray the line.
- How easily does the line slide through it?
- 1/4 oz weights move the line through the unit easily.
- How much resistance does it have?
- It may appear that the device is heavy from the pictures. In fact, It is made from a material lighter than water and only weights 1.4 ounces. The specific gravity of the material is 0.70. With the stainless steel screws as bottom weight to make the device float upright, the float is very near neutral buoyancy. Only about 1 inch of the float is above the water line. Because of the material that we use, the mass of the float is very low. We have measured the specific gravity with a typical jig at 0.87 . This means that it is only 13% lighter than water. Low mass and near neutral buoyancy are the factors that we designed into the float. When a fish takes the bait, it will feel very little resistance.
- It seems VERY Expensive. Isn’t this just another bobber?
- We are the first company to create a digital line-dispensing float.
At, first glance you think “ok a it’s a bobber”. Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM does indeed float. However, that is the only thing it has in common with a bobber. A bobber is simplistic in nature, the Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM on the other hand is innovative technology created by a Registered Professional Engineer.
The Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM is a precise depth-measuring instrument that is fully synchronized. It is manufactured in the USA, with computerized numerical control equipment, precisely machined with accuracy to one thousandths of an inch.
(For more information on this subject, please read the above section entitled: A Word from the Management)
- Your FAQ section mentions 1/4 oz. to operate, but most of my crappie fishing is done with 1/16 or 1/32 oz. jigs. Will they work in your unit?
- The Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM works from gravity. The 1/4 oz mentioned is a weight we have tested and it works very well. The weights you are using may not by themselves cause the unit to rotate freely. We have a professional Crappie fisherman that uses a split shot above his bait away from the jig to insure that the unit works well.

We have put a lot of work into the design of the product. We are very keen on making improvements and will be responding to your suggestions.
